For
the last 10 years, we have hosted school visits for a variety of curricular
activities for all ages. Julia Hawley is CRB checked and CEVAS trained
and the farm holds the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge. We
will work with teachers on a pre-visit to prepare risk assessments and
to tailor the visit to your needs so that it is a valuable and enjoyable
learning experience. So far, our visitors have ranged in age from 2 to
18 and visits have included hands – on activities linked to creative writing,
maths, history, habitats, rivers, local landscapes, life cycles, art and
much more! Add to this an exciting learning environment with animals and
plants and you have a great opportunity to add a new dimension to your
teaching and an experience the children will never forget. Please contact
us if you wish to enquire about visits or to receive our comprehensive
Teacher’s pack. We are farm associate members of FACE, who do such fantastic
work in the educational sector.
We have also enjoyed working with other youth groups such as Scouts, Rainbows and Nature Watch.
All visits are free and we may be able to signpost you to some financial help towards transport costs.
Julia is also a STEM ambassador working with Leicestershire Education Business Company. She frequently visits schools with rural props and digital photographs to work with young people on a variety of topics such as food technology, citizenship, science, geography and can offer insight into the vast range of exciting careers available for all levels of academic achievement in the rural sector. We are keen to work with schools offering the Land-based and Environment Diploma.
